USAID Knowledge for Development: How Can I Do It?

There are many different tools available at USAID to assist you in your knowledge for development project or community of practice. If you have any questions about how to implement any of these, please contact Susan Wallace. To learn more about the tools available for Communities of Practice, visit the USAID KfD Community of Practice Web Site.

WebBoard

WebBoards are great places to get information and ask questions. WebBoards allow you to post and view threaded discussions on specific topics. Our WebBoard service also offers features such as live chat, mailing lists, and more. For information on setting up a WebBoard, please contact Lisa Lima.

Create a Listserv for Your Group

A listserv is a communication tool that offers its members the opportunity to post suggestions or questions to a large number of people at the same time through email. When you submit a question or something that you want to share to the listserv, your submission is distributed to all of the other people on that list. Listserv's are defined by pre-determined topics. For information on setting up a Listserve, please contact Lisa Lima.

Telling Our Story

USAID is working to be better able to tell the world what we do, and how we do it. In June, a system will be launched which will allow USAID employees and partners all over the world to submit pictures and stories about how their own work is having an impact. For several examples of what these stories will look like, please visit this collection of work from Afghanistan.

Distance Learning

Distance Learning allows USAID professionals the opportunity to take courses, obtain certifications and degrees without having to step foot inside a classroom. Additionally, students can learn at their own pace. Courses are facilitated using regular mail, e-mail, instant messaging, video, satellite television, the Internet, and Compact Disk.

Below are useful links to vendors and organizations that offer more information on Distance Learning.
